Performances with The Perth Choral Society

Spring Concert April 2008

Mark Bousie was born in Perth and was fortunate to have two outstanding local teachers in Sylvia Wilson (accordion) and Claire Gallagher (piano). While a pupil at Perth High School, he won numerous local and national competitions, performed in theatres and concert halls throughout Scotland and made several television appearances.

Since graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in 1996 Mark has enjoyed a varied career as an accordionist, pianist/keyboard player and MD/conductor. He has directed and performed music for over a dozen National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company productions including, for the National, the hugely successful two-part adaptation of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials and Tom Stoppard's epic trilogy The Coast of Utopia. Mark's performing and conducting credits in the West End include Fiddler on the Roof (Savoy), Evita (Adelphi) and Jumpers (Piccadilly).

As an accordionist, he has performed live with the BBC Concert Orchestra (Radio 2 Jerry Herman Gala), Lisa Stansfield (Cafe de Paris) the Nash Ensemble (BBC Proms) and the Joby Talbot Band (Queen Elizabeth Hall). He has played on film soundtracks including Penelope, Sixty Six and Around the World in Eighty Days, appeared in in the live BBC broadcasts Liverpool Nativity and Manchester Passion and contributed to studio recordings including Fiddler on the Roof 2007, Evita 2006 and Aluminium - an album of avant-garde orchestral arrangements of songs by Jack White.

Mark is a main panel examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and was recently elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
